DEEPSEAM: Into the Red Dark

Tharsis Consolidated needs a contractor. The Ninth Shift went down and never clocked out. You are the Tenth.

Pilot a battered mining rig 7,500 feet into the crust of Mars, through rust regolith, banded clay, shale caverns, the timbered galleries of a lost crew, singing crystal hollows, basalt furnaces and carved obsidian halls, down to the Maw, where something old is waiting.

  • Darkness is the enemy. Your headlamp carves the world out of black. Stay too long in the dark and the Dread rises, and the dark bites. Plant lantern posts to light your way back, and ride the lift down to them.
  • Dig, haul, sell, upgrade. Ten ores from hematite to abyssine, a shifting assay market and company contracts. Upgrade your drill head, armor, thrusters, fuel tank, coolant, ore hold and lamp.
  • 25 relics and fossils in six collections: the Ancient Sea, the Leviathan, the lost Ares I colony, the Ninth Shift, the Hollow Choir and the Old Kingdom. Plus hidden caches all the way down.
  • Gas pockets, magma seams, lava, earthquakes and heat that will cook an uncooled rig.
  • Two endings. At the bottom you'll hold a heart. Sell it to the man upstairs, or give it back to the dark.

Hand-built pixel art with normal-mapped, palette-locked lighting, palette-cycled lava and fully synthesized audio. Plays in the browser; progress saves automatically.
